First memories of telemark originated in the Teton Mountains of Idaho and Wyoming being buzzed on my new alpine gear by patrollers carrying avalanche dogs, skiing free-heel on leather boots and skinny skis! Was I embarrassed! Upon returning home, I enrolled with Holly and Steve, outfitted in leather boots and three pins, I was given a whole new appreciation for this style of going downhill. Fast forward, after instructing and coaching skiing throughout Ontario and British Columbia my journey has returned me to Free Heel. There’s no going back! All for one, I ski the resort on the same gear I powderhound in the backcountry!
Free heel, the best way to enjoy winter! Perhaps the most beautiful of all rural sports, surround yourself with an incredible community of folks who love to have fun and can do anything on a pair of sticks!
