Holly – A Pioneer of Snowsports in Canada

In the February 8, 2023 edition of The Snow Times from the Canadian Ski Hall of Fame and Museum, Holly Blefgen was named as one of the 12 Women Who Pioneered Snowsports in Canada.

Holly certainly can be described as one “who changed the face of snowsports in Canada, through … grit and determination, often in the face of sometimes overwhelming adversity, ultimately inspiring future generations to pick up the torch and follow in their tracks.”

My first Telemark lesson was with Holly in the 1980’s, after which I rushed to a local ski shop to pick up tele-gear – leather boots and skinny skis. And about 10 years later, I started teaching with Ski Telemark as they started moving towards the newer plastic boots, but still on skinny skis. By the end of the century, skinny was out and we were telemarking on alpine skis. Today, 20 years later, Ski Telemark is refreshing the rental fleet with the NTN system – the Scarpa TX Pro on Rossignol EXP 86 with 22 Designs Outlaw X bindings.

Join us for a lesson and follow in Holly’s tracks!

Warm Up Day 2022

Warm Up Day at Mount St. Louis / Moonstone
was on Saturday, December 3, 2022.

A number of telemarkers braved the rain and wind to join us for some fantastic early season spring skiing. The rain ended and after changing gloves and jackets we were out after lunch for more, including some video and some fun group skiing…

Join us again at Mount St. Louis Moonstone for Free Heel Fridays!

Happy Holiday, from Holly & Steve and the Ski Telemark team
